PRESENTATION OF TKUMA CENTER ACTIVITY IN MOSCOW

On October 18-21st Tkuma All-Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies has participated in CIS Jewish Communities Conference “Limmud-2007”. The Conference has welcomed the representatives of Jewish Communities from FSU, England, Germany, Israel and the USA. The educational Conference based on principles of pluralism, volunteering and fully availability for participants has been conducted in Moscow area (Pokrovskoe) and hosted over 600 participants.

Dr. Ilya Altman (Co-Chairman of “Holocaust” Russian Research and Educational Center) has presented the unique monograph of Dr. Yitzhak Arad “Jewish Catastrophe on the occupied territories of the Soviet Union (1941-1945)”, which has been published by Tkuma Center jointly with its Moscow partners.

Director of Tkuma All-Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies Dr. Igor Shchupak has participated in various Conference proceedings and conducted the practical session “Problems of Holocaust History and other genocides perception in educational activity of Ukraine”, which provoked keen interest of the participants from Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and Israel, who were all-embarrassingly involved in discussions. The special participants’ interest has been stirred up by the presentation of the innovative educational aid to facilitate the Holocaust History teaching process, i.e. the multimedia e-book “Why do we study Holocaust?’, recently released by Tkuma Center. The audience highly estimated the interactive character of the multimedia e-book and underlined the importance of describing Golodomor of Ukrainian nation in 1932-33, genocide of Armenians in 1915 and other genocides for conducting the comparative analysis of these phenomena and for facilitating their appropriate perception by the representatives of different nations.
