“TKUMA HOLOCAUST LIBRARY” PRESENTATION IN MOSCOW

 

On October 18th the “Holocaust” Russian Research and Educational Center has organized the meeting of public and representatives of intelligentsia in Andrey Sakharov Moscow Center. The participants have visited the unique exhibition devoted to Raul Wallenberg, who rescued thousands of Jewish Hungarians during WWII and died in Stalin’s prison after the Budapest liberation by the Soviet Union forces.

 

At he session conducted by Alla Gelber (human rights advocate and writer, member of Russian Federation Public Chamber, Chairman of “Holocaust” Russian Center) have been introduced the new books on Holocaust issues.

Co-chairman of “Holocaust” Russian Center Dr. Ilya Altman has presented the unique collection of Jews’ letters and diaries of Great Patriotic War period “Save my letters…” (authors - I. Altman and L. Terushkin).

Director of Tkuma All-Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies Dr. Igor Shchupak has presented the new release of “Tkuma Holocaust Library” – the monograph of Dr. Yitzhak Arad “Jewish Catastrophe on the occupied territories of the Soviet Union (1941-1945)”, which has been translated from Hebrew for the first time. The monograph has been published by Tkuma Center jointly with “Holocaust”. Russian Center. The tremendous and fundamental work consists of rich historical materials, embracing the period from the beginning of XX century and events on the eve of WWII till Holocaust consequences. The author paid attention not only to the peculiarities of Nazi mass-killing mechanism functioning, but also to the Holocaust resistance, Jewish fighting for survival, and participation of Jews in partisan struggle. The author mentions with pleasant and kind words the Righteous among the Nations, who rescued Jewish people, risking their own lives.
