SEMINAR FOR UKRAINIAN TEACHERS AND METHODOLOGISTS AT YAD VASHEM

 

On December 23, 2007 - January 4, 2008 knowledge-enriching seminar for Ukrainian teachers and methodologists has been successfully conducted in Israel, at Yad Vashem world-famous Methodical Center of Holocaust Studies.

The Educational Project “Exchanging the unique experience to promote Holocaust awareness” has involved 17 high-qualified and renowned Holocaust History and Tolerance Issues specialists from Ukraine, i.e. teachers, methodologists and educators, who have been actively participating in Tkuma Center activities.

The Seminar has provided tremendous educational opportunities for Ukrainian participants to obtain up-to–date knowledge as well as share the acquired experience on Holocaust History teaching and promotion.

The Seminar has been signified by the brilliantly presented lectures and thoroughly elaborated workshops by prominent Israeli scholars, such as Dr. Zoya Kopelman, Dr. Illya Lurie, Dr. Rafi Vago and others. The participants have been encouraged to ponder over Holocaust phenomenon from different angles, which favored to elaborating the variety of perspectives for Holocaust topic presentation in educational process.

The participants have been deeply impressed by the meeting with the Holocaust survivors, who spoke about heartfelt atrocities of the past.

The Ukrainian educators were fascinated by the large scale and uniqueness of the exhibitions in Yad Vashem Holocaust History Museum, where they were totally absorbed by the atmosphere of the historical events.

The Seminar received exclusively positive feedback from the participants, who gained a lot of new information and unique experience during the Seminar proceedings.
