On August 6, 2017 Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” welcomed the exhibition “Genocide Against Roma – Remember to Resist”, created by German organization Bildungswerk für Friedensarbeit. The exhibition is devoted to the fate of Romanian Roma who were deported to Transnistria (the Romanian occupation zone between the Dniester and Bug) during the Second World War. About half of the deportees died as a result of extremely difficult living conditions. To remind of this almost forgotten genocide, in spring 2016 young Roma and youth of other nationalities from Ukraine, Romania, Moldova and Germany started special trip. Dear Friends!
Dnipro continues to commemorate Jews – victims of the Nazi terror in the city during the occupation. This work will end with the construction of a memorial complex, which would include the names all killed Dnipropetrovsk Jews.
Up to date, more than 3,5 thousand names have been collected. However, according to researchers, only in October 1941 up to 13 thousand people became the victims of mass executions. Restoring the memory of all innocent people killed is our moral obligation.
