During November 22–24, seminar “Pearls of Yiddish Culture” for teachers, educators, museum workers from Ukraine was held in Vilnius (Lithuania). The event was organized by International Yiddish Center of World Jewish Congress in partnership with “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies.

The seminar participants had a course of lectures on Yiddish literature, the history of Yiddish in the 20th century. and the Holocaust poetry, Ukrainian-Jewish relations in light of poetry. Dr. Mordehay Yushkovsky, Dr. Tetiana Batanova, Dr. Lara Lampert lectures interested participants a lot. The concert of the Klezmer Klangen ensemble made an unforgettable impression on Ukrainian educators.

The seminar program also included a rich excursion program: a walk in Jewish Vilnius and a trip to the forest in Ponary, where mass shootings of Jews took place during the Nazi occupation.
