Review

The monograph, on the basis of previously published and new archival documents that have not yet been introduced into scientific circulation, describes in detail and consistently the process of extermination of Odessa Jews in the period from 1941 to 1943 during World War II – in the city itself, as well as in those districts of Odesa and Mykolaiv regions, where they were deported from Odesa.

The author, using the decrees, orders and other documents of the occupation authorities, as well as the testimony of eyewitnesses and participants of actions of mass destruction of the Jewish population contained in criminal cases accusing the perpetrators of these crimes, reveals the role of German and Romanian penal authorities in this tragedy, in particular, in deportation , preparation and execution of mass murders; traces the degree of their participation in these events; provides a critical analysis of the problem of the number of Jewish victims; makes an attempt to eliminate existing contradictions and inaccuracies in the research of the Holocaust in Odesa.

The book will be a useful source of information on this issue for researchers, lecturers, teachers, students and graduate students, as well as anyone interested in the history of the Holocaust and World War II.
