“Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies conducts classes not only with educators and scientists, but also with groups of people who are interested in history.

One of such classes was an interactive lecture by the director of “Tkuma” Institute, Dr. Igor Shchupak, which he gave online on April 19, for participants in the Kollel Torah project.

“There are many topics of history that need to be discussed and clarified; after all, Russia's current war against Ukraine and human civilization began with the "wars of memories", the falsification of history, - said Dr. Shchupak. - The model of modern Russian historical memory is formed by racism-Putinism and at the same time is its product, based on the falsified history of Moscoviia-russia as the main “descendant” of Ancient Russia; elevating and glorifying the “state role” of tsars and tyrants from Ivan the Terrible to Stalin; neo-Stalinist vision of the history of World War II; understanding of the collapse of the USSR as “the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the twentieth century”.

Among the historical topics that “Tkuma” Institute specializes in the study of the Holocaust is the history of Ukrainian-Jewish relations in the 19th and 20th centuries; history of anti-Semitism; formation of Ukrainian nationalism and Zionism; the emergence of totalitarian ideologies - communism, fascism, Nazism and a new and terrible phenomenon of recent times - racism-Putinism.

We truly thank Oleg Karshenbaum, who managed to unite in the pursuit of knowledge completely different people with different views, but most importantly - not indifferent; those who are concerned about history and, most importantly, the problems of human values.
