Every year Primorsk (Zaporizhzhia region) becomes a place for rest and education for children aged 5 to 16 years. The event was organized by Jewish Community Center “Mazal Tov” (Zaporizhzhia). For 3 weeks children are attending classes in Hebrew and history, participating in a variety of activities aimed at developing leadership skills, team spirit, initiative, tolerant attitude to other people.

Traditionally “Tkuma” Institute participates in development and conduction of educational activities. Iryna Radchenko, “Tkuma” Institute educator, conducted series of educational sessions for teenagers. The main topic for discussion was chosen the issue of moral choice during the Holocaust and the attitude of the Ukrainian people towards mass extermination of Jews. In particular, participants talked about some of the main strategies of human behavior during the Holocaust: “bystanders”, collaborators, Righteous among the Nations. To visualize the topic “Tkuma” Institute educator used special posters dedicated to this topic. An important issue of choice also was raised during demonstration the fragments of movie “The Boy in Striped Pajamas” and its further discussion.

Adults, who this year have also participated in the summer camp, also joined the discussion of educational projects of “Tkuma” Institute, and the presentation of new scholarly, educational and methodological literature. After lively discussion, all those interested were able to receive “Tkuma” Institute publications.
