PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

Opening of the International Youth Forum that gathered representatives from different countries of Europe and Northern America was held within the framework of non-governmental program to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Babyn Yar tragedy organized by Ukrainian Jewish Encounter (Canada).

The opening was organized at “Ukrainskyi Dim” in Kyiv. The program was presented by its head Dr. Igor Shchupak, “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum director, psychologist Liudmyla Kozina and Dr. Iegor Vradii, who presented the author of the concept of the whole commemorative project Prof. Paul Robert Magocsi (Canada). Along with youth program this commemorative project, created by Paul Robert Magocsi and Adrian Karatnycky, included public symposium, program on creation of memorial space and great concert.

Forum guests were very interested in multimedia projects exhibited before the grand opening. These were specially prepared mobile versions of “information kiosks” - a modern high-tech educational tool that is widely used in Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine”.

Opening of the Youth Forum started with a presentation of participating countries and a detailed description of planned activities young people with different cultural experiences and language preferences could participate in.

Particular attention was paid to the present context of studying historical events, especially those three genocides Ukraine suffered in the twentieth century. Among the guests during the opening of the International Youth Forum there were defenders of Ukraine of different ethnic origin - Jewish ATO soldier Asher Cherkasky, Chechen heroes of the battalion named after Dzhokhar Dudayev – Adam Osmayev and Amina Okuyeva.

Then participants joined “Guardians of Remembrance” film screening and discussion with its director Boris Maftsir (Israel). During the following days, boys and girls would participate in various presentations, lectures and film screenings, as well as join many activities currently taking place in Kyiv, under the support of various organizations.
