PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

On November 16, 2016 “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies hosted pedagogical seminar organized jointly with Dnipro Regional Institute of Advanced Teacher Training. Traditionally, educational event consisted of two parts: Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” guided tour (conducted by Deputy Head of Research Department Dr. Denys Shatalov), during which teachers have the opportunity to learn more about educational opportunities of the Museum, and practical session.

The session was conducted by Dr.Igor Shchupak, “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum director, and Iryna Piskariova, Educational Programs Coordinator. Teachers learnt about modern approaches in teaching Holocaust history at secondary schools as well as challenges modern history teachers face. Teachers were especially interested in issues related to the reform of modern Ukrainian education, in particular the introduction of the integrated history course.
