PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

"Tkuma" Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies conducts international scholarly conferences, releases scholarly literature (monographs, scholarly journal, textbooks, manuals, collections of documents and memoirs, etc.), coordinates and implements important research projects.

One of the main "Tkuma" Institute research topics is the feat of Righteous Among the Nations who rescued Jews during the Holocaust risking their own lives and lives of their families.

The mechanism of the Nazi "final solution of the Jewish question" in occupied Ukraine, problems of international relations during the World War II, the Holocaust, resistance etc. hold the important place in "Tkuma" Institute research.

Among "Tkuma" Institute publications issued in the first half of 2015 there are: new issue of the scholarly journal "Holocaust Studies", collection of memoirs "Reviving Memory", Proceedings of the International Scholarly Conference "Righteous and Other Rescuers during the Holocaust: Ukraine's Example in Comparative Context", album of photographs and documents "Nazi New Order in Ukrainian Cities" and others. We plan to release books on the Holocaust in Ukraine, the phenomenon of Righteous Among the Nations, research on regional aspects of the Holocaust.

"Tkuma" Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies closely and effectively cooperates with research, museum and archival institutions from Ukraine, Austria, Belarus, Canada, Germany, Israel, Moldova, Polans, Russia, the USA, Sweden, etc.


 

On October 22, All-Ukrainian round table “UKRAINE AND GERMANY IN WORLD WARS: IMAGES AND APPROACHES TO MEMORY POLICY”; “BRIDGES OF MEMORY: MODERN UKRAINIAN-GERMAN DISCUSSION ON WORLD WAR II AND THE HOLOCAUST” was held at Dmytro Yavornytskyi National Historical Museum. The event was organized in conjunction with “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies, Oles Honchar Dnipro National University, Dnipro Development Agency with support of Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Donetsk / Dnipro office and project “Holocaust studies in Ukraine for the formation the atmosphere of tolerance”.

On December 12–13, scientific seminar “Cossack Myth in Eastern Europe in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries” was held in Berlin. Dr. Denys Shatalov – head of Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” scientific department, researcher on “Cossack myth” in the public opinion of Ukraine and Eastern Europe as a whole became the main initiator of this scientific conference, held with the assistance of the Transregional Studies Forum and Germany leading Ukrainian Studies Center “Prisma Ukraїna”.

On December 5-6, scientific and practical conference “The modern museum as a source of identity formation” was held in Dmytro Yavornytskyi National Historical Museum on the occasion of Museum’s 170th anniversary.

On September 05, Fifth Annual Conference of the German-Ukrainian Historical Commission “Memories of the Second World War in Germany and Ukraine since 1945”, organized jointly with “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies started in Dnipro.

On May 04, 2019, scientific conference “‘Sobornist’ Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the ‘Great Re-Unification’ of Ukrainian Lands” was held at the Ukrainian Museum (New York, USA). The conference was hrld in a series of “Ukrainian Historical Encounters Series” events the main initiators and organizers of which were Center for US – Ukraine Relations, Ukrainian Congress Committee of America, Ukrainian Harvard Studios etc.
