PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

On February 5–6, 2016 Regional Stage of All-Ukrainian Contest and Defense of research works by pupils – members of Dnipropetrovsk department of Junior Academy of Sciences, “History” section, was conducted. Traditionally the defense was conducted on the base of O. Honchar Dnipropetrovsk National University. “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies has been the partner in the Contest for already two years.

On February 5, the great opening of the Contest was held. Then in order to demonstrate their own skills and the general level of training young historians took tests in basic discipline.

The defense was held on February 6 according to sections “Archaeology”, “World History”, “Ethnology”, “Local History” and “History of Ukraine”. In general 80 papers were presented. In their works the pupils showed interest in the theme of World War II and the Holocaust.

Denys Shatalov, “Tkuma” Institute Research Associate, became a member of the Commission on the assessment of the papers in sections “History of Ukraine” and “Local History”. He announced the release of a collection of the best pupils’ works in a special collection planned to be issued by “Tkuma” Institute this year. Thus the winners of the Contest will be able to get their first scholarly publications.

At the end of the second day of the Contest great awarding ceremony was conducted

According to the results of the defense the prizes were distributed as follows:

“Archaeology”: the 1st place – Maryna Shunina, the 2nd place – Polina Ledashcheva;

“World History”: the 1st place – Illya Zhushman, the 2nd place – Artem Klymenko, Yuri Nedzherya, the 3rd place – Dayana Skrobotova, Daryna Cherednyk;

“Ethnology”: the 1st place – Olha Ozhohina, the 2nd place – Daryna Mihdal, the 3rd place – Alina Latypova, Yuliya Shevchenko;

“Local Studies”: the 1st place – Mykola Umanets, the 2nd place – Vataliy Mykhalchuk, Inna Uhryumova, Iryna Shaykan, the 3rd place – Yelyzaveta Verhun, Volodymyr Yershov, Ilona Kozachuk, Karyna Lehka;

          “History of Ukraine”: the 1st place – Vladyslav Chuchva, the 2nd place – Kateryna Bolebrukh, Kyrylo Demchenko, Anastasiya Koptyayeva, the 3rd place – Dina Barabash, Volodymyr Honchar, Inna Zaichenko.
