On May 20, 2019, public discussion on Novomoskovsk Street renaming in honor of Natalia Levchenko was held in the Executive Committee of Novomoskovsk City Council.

During the Nazi occupation, Natalia Levchenko (maiden name Babenko) rescued from the death a Jew – Leonid Golwerk. In 1996, Natalia’s Levchenko feat was honored by the State of Israel, and they gave her honorary title of the Righteous Among the Nations.

At the end of 2018, “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies appealed to Novomoskovsk City Council with a proposal to honor the memory of Natalia Levchenko by naming in her honor any city street.

A mandatory element of the renaming procedure is the public discussions, which took place this Monday. Dr. Yehor Vradii, deputy director and Iryna Radchenko, researcher represented “Tkuma” Institute during the meeting.
