PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

On September 20, presentation of “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies new publications “History of the War and tragedies and battles of historians around them” was held within the frameworks of the Lviv Book Forum. The event was held at the main reading room of the Scientific Library of t Ivan Franko Lviv National University. Dr. Yehor Vradii, deputy director of “Tkuma” Institute and researcher Valentyn Rybalka held the meeting.

Within the presentation, scientists, students, representatives of the Lviv Jewish community and the city public were able to get acquainted with the contents of the latest publications of "Tkuma" Institute. These, in particular, “Babyn Yar: victims, rescuers, executioners” (authors Oleksandr Kruglov and Andrej Umansky) – a book that reconstructs the course of preparation and destruction of Kyiv Jews in Babyn Yar at the end of September 1941; the second part of the monograph “Holocaust in Ukraine: German Military Zone, Romanian Military Zone, Galicia District, Transcarpathia” (Authors: Oleksandr Kruglov, Andrej Umansky, Igor Shchupak); “Those who returns faith in human”: “Righteous among the Nations of Dnipropetrovsk region” – publication dedicated to residents and natives of Dnipropetrovsk region who, during World War II, rescued Jews who were victims of Nazi genocide; “Holocaust: Artistic Dimensions of Ukrainian Prose”, where main milestones and directions of the Holocaust reception in Ukrainian fiction are being comprehended for the first time, works of writers of the XX – beginning of the XXI centuries are analyzed. The publication ‘Holocaust in Dnipropetrovsk” was also presented, which contains a popular science story about the birth of a Jewish community in the city, life during the occupation and the fate of Dnipropetrovsk Jews during the Holocaust, as well as the second expanded and enlarged edition of the Zaporizhzhia researcher Oleksandr Davletov “Preparation “Generation of Wolves”: Training Future Holocaust Executors”.

By the end of the event, the participants were acquainted with the content and nature of articles published in the next 9th issue of the journal “Holocaust Studies: A Ukrainian Focus”, published by “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies. The speeches aroused great curiosity among the audience in the hall, which testified to the large number of questions to the speakers. At the end, the staff of “Tkuma” Institute made a gift and presented the sets of new publications to the libraries of Lviv National University and the Jewish community of the city.
